Instrument, a digital creative agency in Portland, Oregon, sought to adapt and expand its headquarters. The existing space, a WWII-era industrial shipbuilding factory, included a massive gantry and a teepee-shaped structure. Frustrated with the dynamics of working as a 100-person operation with no private space, the Instrument partners tasked William / Kaven with re-imagining the 15,000-SF studio. The eventual design included multiple conference rooms, private working pods, a commercial kitchen, and an additional mezzanine space for expansion.
