WILLIAM/KAVEN ARCHITECTURE WINS 2019 AIA MICHIGAN HONOR AWARD FOR CAMP MINOH

William / Kaven Architecture’s Camp MINOH Project in Charlevoix, Michigan, was recognized by AIA Michigan with an Honor Award. The 2019 jury, chaired by Matthew Kreilich of Snow Kreilich Architects, said of the project: “The restrained material palette, exposed structure and sense of craft in this home creates wonderful spaces to live while the sensitivity to massing and siting create a powerful connection to the beautiful site.”

The single-family residence built on the northern shores of Lake Michigan was completed in January 2018. Of the award, Daniel Kaven, William/Kaven Architecture’s Partner in charge of the project, says: “We completely fell in love with the site on our first visit and returned home with a simple thesis: create a warm and robust shelter out of only a few materials that would withstand the extreme conditions of life on a lake that is the size of an ocean. It is a huge honor to see our clients enjoy this home as we envisioned, and we are humbled that it has now been formally recognized for its design.”
